Roque Nublo is now a regulated-access area, and individual visitors need to book a time slot in advance. Public access starts at 10:00, while authorised Active Tourism operators have an earlier reservation window.
We reserve our authorised Active Tourism access slots in advance, and our small groups normally reach Roque Nublo before the first public time slot begins — giving you the chance to experience this extraordinary landscape at one of its quietest moments of the day.

Visiting Roque Nublo independently now requires a little more planning. You’ll need a public access reservation and you’ll also need to organise how to reach the hiking area, as parking is no longer permitted at the start of the trail.

The Roque Nublo hike: short, spectacular and moderately challenging
The hike to Roque Nublo is relatively short — around 3 km in total — but don’t let the distance fool you.
The route climbs around 300 metres through real mountain terrain, with uneven and rocky sections and a steady ascent. The hike is officially classified as Moderate, so a reasonable level of fitness and mobility is required.

Roque Nublo — the heart of the experience
Then we continue towards Roque Nublo, where we drop you directly at the start of the hike.
As we hike, we’ll share the geology, history and stories of Gran Canaria’s ancient inhabitants behind the landscape you’re walking through.
And when we finally reach Roque Nublo, we slow everything down.
This is your time to enjoy being there. Find your favourite viewpoint, take photographs, sit down with your picnic or simply take in the landscape around you.

04 · TUNTE
A relaxing stop in Tunte
After the hike, we head to the traditional mountain village of Tunte, where you’ll have some free time to relax at your own pace.
Have a coffee, take a short walk around the village or simply sit down and enjoy a well-earned break before we return to Maspalomas.

What should I bring?
💧 WATER OR YOUR PREFERRED DRINK
Please bring enough water or your preferred drink for the hike. If you forget, drinks can normally be purchased at the kiosk near the start of the route.
🥾 SUITABLE FOOTWEAR
Comfortable closed shoes with good grip. Hiking shoes or trainers suitable for uneven mountain terrain are recommended.
👕 CLOTHING FOR MOUNTAIN CONDITIONS
Bring clothing suitable for changing mountain conditions. We’ll send you any specific recommendations before the tour.
☀️ SUN PROTECTION
Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat are recommended.
Mountain weather & possible closures
Mountain conditions at Roque Nublo can be very different from Maspalomas, with colder temperatures, strong winds or, at times, significantly higher temperatures.
You don’t need to monitor the mountain weather yourself. We keep an eye on the conditions and will contact you the day before the tour with any relevant information and recommendations on what to wear or bring.
Roque Nublo may also be temporarily closed by the authorities due to adverse weather conditions or wildfire risk. Official closures can sometimes be announced at very short notice.

Do I need a reservation to visit Roque Nublo?
Yes. Access to Roque Nublo is regulated and individual visitors need to reserve a public time slot in advance.
When you book this experience with Sky Rebels, you don’t need to make a separate public reservation. We arrange the required access for our group in advance.
What if the public Roque Nublo reservations are sold out?
Public reservations and authorised Active Tourism reservations use separate availability.
Sky Rebels reserves its Active Tourism access slots in advance. If our tour is available to book on your date, your Roque Nublo access is already taken care of.
Can I visit Roque Nublo without a tour?
Yes. You can visit Roque Nublo independently, but you’ll need to arrange your public access reservation and organise your own transport to the area.
Parking is not permitted at the start of the trail, so independent visitors also need to plan how to reach the hiking area using the designated parking and transport options.

Do I need to worry about parking or taking a shuttle?
No. We pick you up in Maspalomas and drop you directly where the hike begins.
You don’t need to find mountain parking or organise onward transport to the trail.
How difficult is the Roque Nublo hike?
The hike is officially classified as Moderate.
The route is approximately 3 km in total, with around 300 metres of ascent and descent, starting at approximately 1,500 metres and reaching almost 1,800 metres above sea level.
You don’t need to be an experienced hiker, but you should have a reasonable level of fitness and be comfortable walking uphill and downhill on uneven and rocky mountain terrain.
What ages is the Roque Nublo hike recommended for?
The Roque Nublo hike is recommended for participants aged 8 to 70. Children under 8 are not recommended for this experience due to the mountain terrain and the physical demands of the hike.
Participants over 70 may still be able to join depending on their fitness, mobility and hiking experience. If you’re over 70 and unsure whether the hike is suitable for you, please contact us before booking.
Can everyone walk at their own pace?
With a maximum of six guests and two guides, we can keep a comfortable pace and make stops when needed.
This isn’t a race to Roque Nublo. Once we reach the top, you’ll also have time to relax, enjoy your picnic, take photographs and experience the surroundings before we head back down.
Is the drive to Roque Nublo winding?
Yes. The road from Maspalomas into the mountains includes winding sections, as is typical in the interior of Gran Canaria. If you’re sensitive to winding roads, we recommend being prepared for the mountain drive.
What happens if Roque Nublo is closed because of weather or wildfire risk?
Roque Nublo can occasionally be closed by the authorities due to adverse weather conditions or wildfire risk. These decisions are outside our control and can sometimes be announced at very short notice.
If Roque Nublo is closed, we’ll offer you an alternative experience exploring some of Gran Canaria’s most spectacular landscapes and places instead. The alternative route is longer than our regular Roque Nublo experience.
We’ll contact you as soon as we receive confirmation of an official closure and explain the details.
What should I bring for the Roque Nublo hike?
Bring water or your preferred drink, comfortable closed shoes with good grip, clothing suitable for walking and sun protection.
Mountain conditions can be very different from Maspalomas. We’ll contact you before the tour with any specific recommendations based on the expected conditions.

Yes. Once we reach Roque Nublo, we’ll give you time to relax and enjoy a fresh local picnic with a filled baguette, fruit and a chocolate bar, all locally sourced.
There’s no rush — this is your time to enjoy being at Roque Nublo.
